Tier II: Quito Quest
Quito, Ecuador
June 19- July 1, 2010
Leader: Sterling Moore
Description: El Refugio is a 350-acre Christian retreat and training center just north of Quito, Ecuador. It exists to be a training and retreat center for students and leaders and is intended to facilitate a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ though nature and outdoor adventure.
Quito Quest students stay at El Refugio and work on projects such as construction work, clearing trails, and ropes course elements. Students also have the opportunity to host a Vacation Bible School for about 100 children in the towns nearby. Recreational trips might include visiting the market in Otavalo, the jungle, and the Equator.

Tier II B: Los Cabos, Mexico
June 22 - 30 , 2010
Description: The Tier #2 trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is a new initiative for TREK (although I (Sterling) have lead this trip at a previous church). The trip is facilitated by an organization called LEAD 222 that seeks to offer service and mission experience for students, while simultaneously teaching lessons on leadership. We will be in Cabo with 3 or 4 other student ministries from the United States and gather all together for evening sessions, meals, worship and activities. As a group, we will have the opportunity to partner with a local church in their ministry development to the Mexican people. Cabo, like many other tourist driven areas, has the high contrast of immense wealth juxtaposed against the background of extreme poverty. Our projects can range from light construction on churches and their facilities to more relational projects with the local residents.
Ages: Current 9th, 10th & 11th Grades
(9th graders must have previously served on the Tier I trip)
