Why are we doing this?

We believe that in order to facilitate FBCG's ministry of "reaching, connecting, equipping and serving" God is calling us to expand our west campus facility. While that project is in the future - we believe it is important for us to reduce our current debt in order to "prepare the way" for such a significant facility expansion.

How much debt does FBCG currently carry?

When the fund started in 2010 FBCG carried $2.8 million in debt from our "Building on Faith" campaign of 2003-2006. The West Campus Phase 1 project was a total of $10.2 million (including the purchase of the property and addition of the steeple tower). From donations to date, the remaining mortgage is now $2.4 million. This existing debt is being serviced through both our General Budget and Prepare the Way, but we would like to reduce it as much as possible before taking on another construction phase.

What is the plan for the future?

In order to reach,connect, equip and serve more people and families, our plan includes the expansion of the West Campus to include a second worship venue, significant adult “equipping” space, children’s ministry space and expanded lobby space. Our goal is to bring our entire church family together on one campus for worship each weekend, while continuing to employ both campuses for weekday ministries. Our hope is to conduct a major capital campaign for this project beginning in the fall of 2011.

Am I going to have to make a pledge?

You will not be asked to make a pledge to this project. We are simply inviting our entire church family to make this effort to "prepare the way" for God’s future a priority in their personal generosity. You may simply write "Prepare the Way" or "PTW" on your giving envelope or on the memo line of your check. Or you may check out these other options for giving.

Is this in addition to my giving to the General Fund?

Yes! We need your General Fund donation to continue our current ministries so we encourage gifts to  Prepare the Way  to be above and beyond regular giving.

What is the East Campus Challenge?

The East Campus is being remodeled to provide additional connection and equipping space.Improvements are being made as funds are donated so no additional borrowing will be necessary to complete the work. None of the donations to the East Campus Challenge will be used to reduce our mortgage nor will gifts to Prepare the Way be used for East Campus improvements. You are invited to give to either or both opportunities.

What about the Building Fund?

The Building Fund is used for a variety of purposes having to do with our facility needs – including architectural and construction drawings for our next phase of construction and the costs of our next capital campaign. Prepare the Way is focused solely on debt reduction. You are invited to participate in either or both opportunities.

Will a portion of our Prepare the Way giving go outside FBCG?

No. We will dedicate all of our Christmas Eve offerings to a special need outside of FBCG, but every dollar given to Prepare the Way will go toward debt reduction.

How long will the Prepare the Way initiative run?

Prepare the Way has been established as an ongoing fund and will continue until the mortgage is paid off.
