Responsibilities

To oversee FBCG Women's Ministries; to provide leadership, training and support for Women's Ministry coordinators; to lead the Women's Ministries Leadership Team and to serve as liaison to FBCG leadership.

Ministry Background

While Brian served as Youth Pastor, I joined him in working with junior and high school students. When he transitioned to Senior Pastor in 1994, I transitioned as well and began my focus on Women’s Ministries. After having the opportunity to develop various ministries including Moms Together, I moved into the role of Director of Women’s Ministries in 2001.

Family Background

Born in Malaysia, I was raised with my twin sister and two younger brothers by parents who were in full time Christian ministry with the United Methodist Church. All of my elementary and middle school years were spent in Southeast Asia (Malaysia and Indonesia) where my parents served as missionaries (my father pastored a local UM church). During 5-8th grade, my sister and I lived in boarding school in Singapore and attended the Singapore American School. My high school years were spent with my family in the United States where I attended three different high schools (North Dakota, South Dakota and New York).

I attended Taylor University in Indiana from 1980-1984 where I met my husband Brian. We married in 1985 and shortly after moved to Bolivia to serve as short-term missionaries. In 1986, we moved to Illinois after Brian was called to the position of Youth Pastor at FBCG. After completing my M.A. in 1990, we began our family and have four sons: Jordan (1990), Jesse (1992), Micah (1995) and Canaan (1997).

Ministry Vision

Our Women’s Ministries vision is to be women of faith, from all ages and stages of life, who boldly reach out to share God’s life-changing love with women in our community and beyond.

Ministry Mission

Our Women’s Ministry mission is to honor God by providing opportunities for women to learn about God, grow in a personal relationship with Him, build and enjoy friendships with each other and serve God with their spiritual gifts—becoming all that He desires for them to be.

Greatest Satisfactions

My greatest satisfactions include seeing women take “next steps” whether as a newcomer who entered through the door for the first time and sees the need for something more in her life or the more mature believer who discovers her gifts and steps out in service and leadership. I also enjoy building relationships with women and being able to encourage and support women in leadership.

Greatest Challenges

One of my greatest challenges is identifying and raising up future leaders and providing adequate and effective training for the task of leadership in order to fulfill our ministry vision.
