R.A.F.T. works in partnership with World Relief, Aurora to share the love of Christ by ministering to the needs of refugee resettling in the Fox Valley. All current refugee volunteers and anyone who is interested in learning more about FBCG's refugee ministry are invited to attend one of the monthly dessert meetings held at the home of Rick and Ruth Nelson (6 Hathaway Crescent in the Presbury area of Aurora, east of Highway 47 off Bliss Road). Pot Luck Dinner
Friday, April 25, 6:00 p.m.

A potluck dinner is planned for anyone involved with a refugee family or refugee ministry. The dinner will be held at Rick and Ruth Nelsons. RSVP to the Nelsons and plan to bring a salad and dessert.

Opportunities to Serve:

           Friendship partners are needed to befriend refugee families and help them get acquainted with the community, school, services they need, and just speak English with them.Contact Ruth Nelson to offer your friendship to one of the families.
           Ladies' Day Out, a new Wednesday afternoon ministry to former refugee women in Aurora, is looking for consistent, seasoned help with preschoolers, toddlers and babies while we minister to their moms. Wednesdays while Aurora schools are in session, 4 - 6 pm, St David's Episcopal church, corner of Randall Road and Illinois Street in Aurora. Contact Ruth Nelson or Sue Tristano.
           Ladies' Tea Time, Women are invited to help with a weekly ministry with refugee women beginning in October. First opportunity is a Ladies Tea Time. This casual time of conversation will include Muslim and Christian women. Also needed are voluteers to be part of a ladies' Bible Study. Women are needed for leadership positions and also to talk about the lesson with one or two women in English.
           Homework Club needs tutors to help children with their studies.
           Storage space is needed for donated furniture and household items which are used to assist refugee families as they arrive in our area. If you have space to offer, please call Pam Harris. For additional information on how you might help our refugee ministry, contact Allyson Karl.
           Donated car in reliable condition needed that could be given to one of our Sudanese refugee friends to get to work. If you could help with this need, it would be greatly appreciated. Call Erin at 232-7068
           The Refugee Team always needs volunteers who are willing to collect furniture, set up new apartments, provide temporary housing, teach conversational English, give rides to appointments, offer friendship and spiritual direction and provide other types of assistance needed to help refugees settle in the Fox Valley area.
