Responsibilities
Provide Pastoral leadership and vision for Faith at Home direction in Family's lives, lead both local and global serving initiatives (often referred to as Missions), while personally pastoring, shepherding, and discipling students in early adolescence.
Background
I was born in Media, PA, where I lived through fifth grade. Each summer was spent in Ocean City New Jersey. My father retired and moved the family to Florida where I spent my teen years before coming to Wheaton College as a freshman.
After graduating from Wheaton with majors in Bible and Christian Education, I began serving as a youth director in a church in Downers Grove, IL while I finished my MA in Educational Ministries from Wheaton Graduate School. I was hired by First Baptist of Geneva in 1997.
Throughout the years I have continued my education and have completed my Masters of Divinity from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary and received my Doctor of Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary in the Youth and Family Ministry.
Family
I was married in July of 1997 to Diana and we moved to Geneva. Our son Joel was born in 2000, and our daughter Sarah joined our family in 2002. My parents work for Chosen People Ministries and split time in both Florida and North Carolina. Di's parents live in Downers Grove, IL. I have a sister who lives less than a mile away and attend FBCG with her husband and three children and Di's brother lives in Minneapolis with his wife and three kids.
Ultimate Purpose in Ministries
To be a community journeying to love God, others, and the world with our heart, soul, strength, and mind.
Ministry Philosophy
I believe the church of Jesus Christ is to be a place to believe, belong and become; where all people matter to God; where all people are welcomed and loved, where all are invited to share in the good news of salvation and to grow into fully devoted disciples for Jesus Christ. I am passionate that the primary community for spiritual formation is the HOME and often refer to it as the spiritual epicenter for Spiritual Formation.
